2009 05 08 - Booze - 6OC - Joseph Mellot

JOSEPH MELLOT

La Chatellenie Sancerre 2008
Tasting:
A pale golden yellow colour with green tints. A concentrated, subtle nose, marked by mineral and floral notes. Delicate on the palate with a harmonious balance of acidity and alcohol. The mineral finish is full of the finesse and elegance characteristic of flinty soils.
Blend: 100% Sauvignon Blanc

Le Chant Des Vignes Pouilly-Fumé 2007
Tasting:
A pale golden colour with yellow tints. A powerful, complex nose marked by white fruit (pears). This wine displays great freshness for this exceptional vintage. The palate is well-balanced with good length.
Blend: 100% Sauvignon Blanc

Le Clos du Pressoi Menetou-Salon Rouge 2007
Tasting:
A clear ruby-red colour, limpid and brilliant wine. Aromas of red berries and Morello cherries. A well structured wine with oaky notes. The tannins on the finish are a good indication of its ageing potential.
Blend: 100% Pinot Noir

The Mellot dynasty was founded in Sancerre almost five centuries ago by Pierre-Etienne Mellot and, since then, the family has always been involved in winemaking. When Alexandre Mellot took over the family estate in 1984, he decided to extend the vineyards, modernise the winery equipment and give a new impetus to export sales. In 1987, he was joined by Catherine Corbeau, who took charge of the sales and marketing operations. Together, they developed new strategies for both the viticultural and marketing activities and steadily bought more vineyards in order to be totally in control of their supplies.
