2009 05 21 - Up close - The Venice Carnival
The exhibition showcases more than 30 photographic prints of masks taken by Australia-born Foong Lian Fey during the 2008 & 2009 Venice Carnival. Fey's intention is to create a series of photograpy books called " Up Close " Many of us get caught up in the "busy-ness" of life and seldom have time to stop, look and appreciate what is right in front of us. In this, the first book of the series Fey is using the Venice Carnival with all of its vitality, its expressions of brillianceas a medium to remind us of the beauty of life up close. Attracted by the energy in a scene, she invites the audience to join in appreciating the pleasure of the colorful and intricate designs of the Italian costumes and masks.
