2009 08 07 - 6OC - ZIND HUMBRECHT – 100% BIODYNAMIC

ZIND HUMBRECHT – 100% BIODYNAMIC
Pinot Gris Rotenberg 2003
Tasting:
Wine Spectator: This wine combines power and finesse, with just a hint of sweetness to offset the broad shouldered frame. Peach, quince and pear notes join white pepper and minerals tones for a complex flavour profile. Firm, dry finish with some tannins and heat.

Blend: 100% Pinot Gris
Rating: 91 Points by Wine Spectator

Retail Price: $80.00

Gewürztraminer Wintzenheim 2004
Tasting:
Wine Advocate: Rose petal, smoked meats, celery seed, sweet pea, and brown spices are the key aromatic and flavour notes.

Blend: 100% Gewürztraminer
Rating: 89 Points by Wine Advocate

Retail Price: $85.00
Riesling Herrenweg Turckheim 2004
Tasting:
Illustrates the advantages of a temperate, well-watered, and thus for the vines stress-free vintage in these sandy, loamy soils. Linden, ripe peach and fresh lime aromas lead to a somewhat bifurcated palate, on the one hand almost over-ripe in its peachiness and honeyed tone, and on the other tartly citric. The firm, spicy, citric finish here is unusual for Herrenweg.

Blend: 100% Riesling
Rating: 88 Points by Wine Advocate
Retail Price: $92.00

The Humbrechts are a family of winemakers with a passion for wine growing and the great wines of Alsace since 1658. The success of Zind Humbrecht wines lies in the attention they pay to the vineyards; its soil type, slope, exposition and drainage potential. They are also committed to low yields which allow the differences in microclimate, soil and subsoil to come through in the wine. They are passionate believers in treating their wines as little as possible, fermenting and ageing them in large wooden vats rather than in stainless steel.
