Umbria ( Todi )

Todi

From Piazza Partigiani, there are frequent rides to Todi, south of Perugia. Alternatively, Todi is accessible by train from Stazione Santa Anna in Perugia. The coach stops near Piazza Del Popolo ( Top right & bottom right ).

Piazza del Popolo, the main square is the gathering place of the local folks. There is the tourist office, regional banks and restaurants. Also the numerous shops selling local produce like Truffles and cured meat.

Chiesa di S. Fortunato. ( Top right ) is a nice place to have my lunch. Seated at one corner, the street below is empty as most people are at home lunching or taking their siesta. With the green grass patch and zig zag stairways in front of the church, it made me think whether life is indeed complicated or only when we want it to be that way. Anyway, looking far, the plains look green and filled with vitality under the nourishment from the blazing sun.

Santa Maria della Consolazione ( Bottom right ) is a masterpiece of the Renaissance in Umbria. It is also an ideal refuge from the blazing summer .This church is located near the foot of the historic centre and I had to trespass private property to take a shortcut back to Piazza del Popolo. Along the way, some of the houses were planted with grapes and lavenders. It was a enjoyment smiling the fragrance of the lavenders and savouring some of the grapes that were within reach.
