La Notte delle Stelle – The Night of Stars
In the afternoon, I was walking the main square Piazza 4th Novembre with Stas, my Estonian roommate. We chanced upon a poster titled La Notte delle Stelle.
We decided to return in the evening to watch this event. By 8pm, the crowd gathered early to secure the best viewing seats. The event kicked start with laser displays against the ancient walls of the Duomo - Cathedrale di San Lorenzo. In the front of the stage, there were rows of water fountain displays which sways according to the classical music rhythms of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons. The water jets reached greater heights as the music notes hit the higher octaves.
Next, some young girls were dancing on stage and they were like nymphs (spirits of nature). These water fairies performed with much perfection with their acrobatic flexibility and dainty ballet movements.
Lastly, the highlights of the event were the fairworks. Performers dressed in traditional costumes were carrying pyrotechnics behind them. As they immerged into the stage, the fireworks were shooting into the sky with golden sprays of fire sparks. There was a safety distance and we could watch the event with safety and at close proximity. As the performers were on stilts, the crowds behind were also able to catch a good glance of the performances. In terms of logistics, it was well-planned and safety measures well taken care of.
The night was certainly enchanting and everyone will probably have a good sleep with sweet dreams ( sogni d’oro) of entering into their own dreamed paradise.
