2007 06 14 - Weiner Kaffeehaus

A visit to this Austrian coffeehouse brings back memories of the Contiki trip to Austria in year 2000. The first time I tried gulasch was in Austria.

Unfortunately, this eatery doesn't serve snapps which could a delightful drink for a good chillout.

The Wiener Kaffeehaus, Singapur

your extended living room? is set in an Art Nouveau style, constructed from an old conservation shop house which was first built in 1928. It offers a unique blend of the famous Viennese coffee history and culture with modern facilities like the internet. The Wiener Kaffeehaus serves really fresh famous coffee, Viennese pastries (our specialty being the Sache Torte) and traditional Viennese cuisines like the Goulash and Schnitzel. With an in-house Roastery, it means that your coffee is always guaranteed fresh. The aroma is definitely tempting. We have included a Deli that will appeal to all ang mors? and a retail section where you can purchase coffee products and gifts. Your experience with coffee and a good conversation will never be the same again!

Fiaker Gulasch - Soups & Snacks
Generous portion of Viennese Gulasch as the horse cab drivers used to eat it. Hungarian-influenced beef stew, highly spiced with paprika and chili, served with salt potatoes, fried egg and pickled cucumber.

Wiener Apfel Strudel
Apple strudel is a traditional Austrian pastry and is hand-made here at the Wiener Kaffeehaus. The art of preparation is in making the pastry very thin and elastic; it is said that a single layer should be so thin you could read a newspaper through it. It consists of an oblong strudel pastry jacket with a filling of chopped apples, sugar, cinnamon, raisins and bread crumbs. Served either hot or cold with whipped cream
