Since 1874, the Barone Ricasoli name has been synonymous with top quality Chianti Classico wines and Super Tuscans, which have won many international awards and achievements. In 1993, Francesco Ricasoli, the 32nd Baron of Brolio took leadership of the winery and estate. In keeping with his family tradition, Francesco has made quality his primary objective. Over the last ten years, he has assembled a new winemaking team and replanted nearly 400 acres of the estate. In the process, Francesco has re-established Ricasoli the name as one of the most important wine estates in Italy. The vineyard, situated in Brolio, stretches for 240 hectares over a medium to high terrain. Sandy rock at the higher altitudes and limestone and marl at the lower. The flat terrain is made up of red sand and bedrock, rich in skeletal remains.
