2008 04 27 - Chatterbox High Tea

Singapore’s most popular chicken rice has a new home!
Relocated to the 38th/39th floor of the Grand Tower, Chatterbox has replaced the now defunct Top of the ‘M’ Revolving Restaurant which had been famed for its culinary directions from Southern France.

Having undergone a complete makeover, Chatterbox - Home of the Mandarin Chicken Rice has shed its homely Peranakan outfit and now infuses ultra-modern vibrancy with its iconic colours of red, black and white.

2008 04 27 - Peranankan Museum , 39 Armenian St

The Peranakan Museum at 39 Armenian Street, which houses the world’s finest and most comprehensive collection of Peranakan artefacts, is the latest addition to the National Heritage Board’s family of museums. It will operate under the Asian Civilisations Museum (ACM).
The Peranakan Museum presents a Southeast Asian-wide view of Peranakan culture. Its rich material legacy and heritage are enhanced by state-of-the-art display technology, coupled with educational interactives for the young.
The Peranakan Museum explores the main themes of Peranakan life in ten permanent galleries. They include the elaborate 12-day Peranakan wedding, the role of the Nonyas, prominent Peranakans in Singapore’s history, as well as one of the favourite past times of Singaporeans – food and feasting. It also provides a glimpse of how modern-day Peranakans have evolved with their culture.
Actual work on the Peranakan Museum started just over two years ago, when the old Tao Nan School building was closed for renovation works at the end of 2005. ACM staff have consulted academics and collaborated with members of the Peranakan community to bring the Museum to life.
