2009 07 13 - Urumqi unrest - Public gatherings banned

Seeing this picture reminded me of our carefree strolling along the International Bazaar at Urumqi on 29 July 2009 . With the unrest that broke out on 5 July 2009 , the mood is so tense and has greatly impacted their economy and tourism. Perhaps it will take some time before tourists gained confidence and return to Xinjiang.
