2009 05 22 - Booze 6OC - Domaine Road

Domain Road Sauvignon Blanc 2008
Tasting:
An introverted nose of white peach with almond and hint of cashew nuts. The palate is very well balanced with sharp acidity. Understated in character with subtle notes of pear, passion fruit and a touch of mandarin towards the finish. Nice poise, lacking a little length but still very fine.

Blend: 100% Sauvignon Blanc
Rating: 88 Points by Robert Parker

Domain Road Riesling 2008
Tasting:
2008 Riesling is the first harvest from these three year old vines and is an off-dry style fermented cool in stainless steel tank. The wine displays citrus fruits, lemons, limes, mandarins and grapefruit on the nose and palate, with some quite nice honey notes which are underpinned by mineral complexity. The ferment was stopped to retain the wine’s own natural sugar to balance the acidity.

Blend: 100% Riesling

Domain Road Pinot Noir 2007
Tasting:
Dark and red fruits, plums, cherries, dried herbs, wild thyme, orange peel, soft tannins and well-balanced acids. This Pinot Noir has good length, body and structure with a spicy finish. Excellent ageing potential. Nose of dense, dark fruits, rich, fresh with spice and herbal complexities.

Blend: 100% Pinot Noir

Domain Road is owned by two families who have enjoyed holidaying at their respective properties for many years and have family connections with the area over several generations. The Applegarth and Crosbie families have been part of the Bannockburn holiday community for several decades. Both families purchased land in the 1980’s eventually joining together and purchasing the land on which Domain Road was developed.
