Umbria ( Perugia - Movie Marathon
There are free movie screenings at the University for Foreigners @ Palazzo Gallenga on every Thursday night and Friday afternoon. After my dinner, I walked to the Palazzo Gallenga to catch the movie Fuori Dal Mondo ( Not of this world ) which was filmed in 1999 and well-acclaimed.
The filmmaker, Giuseppe Picioni's sixth and latest effort behind the camera, tells how one such event has life-changing ramifications for three people: the mother who abandons the baby, the nun who finds him, and the man whose one-night stand with one of his employees may have made him an unwitting father. It was in Italian ( English subtitles were not displayed ) and rather comprehensible as some dialogues are spoken slowly.
When I was back at the house after the movie, my roommates suggested watching a Hollywood movie - Starsky and Hutch at the local theatre (Teatro Turreno).
I was hesitating but decided to join them for the experience. We benefited from the student rate ( EUR4.50 ) by showing our student pass. The cinema was not full house and we would choose our preferred seat. It was a rather peculiar experience for me watching the film in Italian dialogue without any English subtitles. I couldn’t visualize the Hollywood actors speaking Italian. Nevertheless this comedy provided some thrill and laughter.
